Since our inception in 2008, we have collaborated with a number of schools and other special venues to give students an opportunity to be engaged in the naturalization process. We have partnered with USCIS, the U.S. federal courts, and a number of other organizations to hold special naturalization ceremonies at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota; a PBS affiliate television station in Buffalo, New York; and schools in Omaha, Nebraska; Phoenix, Arizona; Denver, Colorado; St. Paul, Minnesota; and Cincinnati, Ohio. As a result of our efforts, thousands of students across the country have had the opportunity to participate in naturalization ceremonies and celebrate these momentous occasions with some of America’s newest citizens.
In 2011, we co-hosted a special Flag Day naturalization ceremony in partnership with the Smithsonian, USCIS, and The Close Up Foundation. Students from Texas, California, Washington D.C., New York, Oklahoma and the U.S. Virgin Islands had the opportunity to participate in the ceremony and showcase their pride in America. Our Founder Gerda Weissmann Klein was among the special guests who participated in the festivities.
