Nonprofit Programming Internship Opportunity

INTERNSHIP CRITERIA:

We are searching for a dynamic, organized, responsible self-starter who will be actively involved in various components of our educational initiative. This position was created for a junior/senior level student with excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates should have a desire to be hands-on and involved in the day-to-day matters related to advancing our educational initiative.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This internship offers a tremendous opportunity to work with both local and national organizations, foundations, and politicians as well as education, business, and community leaders. The position entails working with Citizenship Counts’s Education Coordinator, other staff, and board members on a combination of the following items: creating business presentations, attending and participating in meetings with schools and other educational groups, providing support to schools as they engage in our program, assisting with data/survey collection and focus groups involving students, teachers, and the naturalized citizens, coordinating special events and providing overall support to the development and execution of our program.

During the 2011-2012 school year we will continue to expand our efforts in Arizona and we will bring our program to a few select communities across the U.S. The intern will work in tandem with Citizenship Counts staff, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Federal Courts, volunteers, and the teachers and students who are implementing our program.

The nonpaid internship requires a commitment of 8 – 20 hours a week. The student will earn course credit for their internship. (The number of credit hours will be determined by the number of hours you commit to this opportunity with Citizenship Counts). There will be approximately one weekly meeting with staff to discuss progress on assignments and share ideas for strengthening our program. It is imperative that the intern is disciplined and can complete their assignments on time.
